What an awesome day!  We enjoyed every second of our second annual Walk-a-Thon!  Thanks to all the families, we had 100% participation in 1-04!  As a school, we raised over $10,000!  Way to go Spartans!

On a personal note...I finished the 2015 Chicago Marathon!  It was wonderful having my sweet family there when I FINALLY crossed the finish line!

Character Day 2015 was a blast!  Thank you for letting your sweet child enjoy this exciting day at WSE!

The 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start!  The children are learning the routines and how to work together.  One of our writing skills is to add labels.  In the pictures shown, the students were working with a partner to create a picture.  They had to agree on what to draw and add labels to the drawing.  I was very pleased at how well they worked together and the quality of their work.  Great job 1-04!

We literally ended the year with a bang thanks to Home Depot!  The children enjoyed making bird houses with about 10 Home Depot employees. A huge thanks goes to them for donating their time and resources for White Station Elementary kindergarteners and first graders!

WOW!! That's the word that sums up our Career Day this week.  Believe it or not, these are just a few of the people that came out to teach our WSE students about their careers.  The children had an exciting day for sure!  Thanks to all who came out...it was perfect!

Today was the perfect day for our special visit from the Memphis Botanic Garden.  We learned how our clothing comes from plants and animals.  The students touched cotton, camel, and wool.  They also learned how natural materials such as flowers and shells are used to dye material.  The final step was tie dying our t-shirts.  We will wear these shirts Friday for our annual Field Day!

We have been so busy taking our SAT-10 tests this week. They have worked super hard. I am pleased with how well they have stayed focused and trying their very best.  As a fun way to help get them ready for the final day of testing, the students enjoyed some laptop time on our fancy new HP laptops!

There are a million reasons why I love being a teacher and this is one of them!  First Graders LOVE their teachers and this note melted my heart this morning.  My kiddos knew I was waiting on "pins and needles" to find out if I was selected to run in the Chicago Marathon (and I was:)). This note is one I'll cherish for a lifetime!

We love school, but we love snow days too!  Here are a few pictures of the children.  They are poster children for the "Life is Good" motto!

Want a wonderful learning day we had when Mrs. Chen came and shared Chinese customs and traditions with us about the Chinese New Year.  The children watched videos, ate traditional foods, completed a paper cut-out art project, and dressed in beautiful clothing.  We had a wonderful time and a HUGE thank you goes out to Mrs. Chen for planning and preparing this event for our classroom!

100 Days of School

What an exciting day it is!  Today we dressed up like we were 100 years old!  We'll do some fun activities to help celebrate 100 days of learning too. We read stories, wrote 100 words, wrote equations to make 100, and celebrated our last visit from Zero the Hero.

Another Myster Reader

We LOVED having Ms. Faultz come and read to our class on Halloween!  She is so creative!  Notice the cute tights.  She and Jayden made special treat bags for us too!  Thank YOU!!
